Possibly Studying Abroad

If I were to study abroad it would definitely be in Germany, Italy, Spain, or England. These are my favorite European countries and I would absolutely love a chance to study in them. I would want to go for at least a semester, most likely a spring semester due to the cold ugly weather all of the way until basically April. I would consider a year-long study abroad but I just don’t see that happening. I already started planning it but I have a major roadblock. There is a three year long project called the “EcoCar” competition here at Purdue that I really want to be a part of. This would take me until my senior year for the first eligible semester to study abroad, which does not seem very likely; you most likely are studying abroad during your early to middle years here at Purdue. So once I find a way around that I will not look back and I’ll go somewhere to study abroad.

  1. It would be really cool to go to any of the countries you listed. I have never been to any country in Europe, excluding the fifty minutes I spent between flights in Amsterdam International. It is awesome to see other people interested and excited to see the world around them.
One thing I found interesting was the fact that you only listed European countries, which don't get me wrong would probably be amazing to visit and I would love to do so someday, it's just that Europe only represents a small portion of the world. Would you ever travel to any non-European countries, and if so, which? As for getting acclimated to non-european cultures; it is an incredibly weird feeling at first, but it is very interesting to be surrounded in an environment and culture that isn't a European one.
PS. Europe experiences winter the same time we do, because they are both in the North Hemisphere :) (ENGR 103)

  2. I also have a strong interest in studying abroad. It is very unfortunate that you have this issue. Studying abroad would be a great experience to have. Hopefully the "EcoCar" project offers a little bit of flexibility. I would hate to see someone miss out on an opportunity like this that they wanted to do. But I guess in life you can't have everything you want. Sacrifices will have to be made. You could do the EcoCar project and then if you decide to go to grad school you could possibly do that in another country. Or maybe you could just visit the countries you listed after school was out, that way you can enjoy yourself while there and not have school to worry about. Just some thoughts. Hope you figure it out!

  3. The same with you, if I have a chance to study abroad, I will go to European. I’m curious about the castles, chivalry, and legends about vampires. Different with the history which I am familiar with, European history is kind of complicated. I’d like to spend months to visit the museums, galleries and old cities in Europe. It is very unfortunate that you have this issue. Hope you figure it out! Studying abroad will be a great experience. It's good to experience the culture of other countries and make friends from around the world. If you want to do the EcoCar project, I think you can think about shorten the time of study abroad to 3 months. You can participate in this project in the summer break.(ENGR 103)

  4. wow! I like your incredible list of countries for studying abroad. The best part is that the county I listed to go to is also in your list, and that's Germany. Actually I feel that I would mind with Spain too. A beautiful place to live and study in, with loads of opportunities. I am so eager for my study abroad experience.! :)

  5. But, would you really be able to focus on studies if you were in Spain near the beach?? I feel like I would need to take all 'blowoff classes' to fully appreciate a study abroad in spain....maybe a 'soccer studies' course where I get credit for watching the Barcelona matches! Germany might be a bit easier to focus on as far as academics, lol.
